This is getting embarrassing. MixedRealities is a platform-agnostic blog, but I do realize that I talk a lot about Second Life. This is because that world is very important in the segment of open-ended, user-generated virtual worlds catering for a primarily non-teen/kid demographic.
Now, before I’ll post about Blue Mars, Metaplace, OpenSim and others, just a quick shout: Linden LabĀ announced the appointment of Robin Ducot as Vice President of Web Development. Reporting directly to CEO Mark Kingdon, she will oversee the company’s diverse array of Web properties, sites and services.
Ducot served as VP of Web Development at Adobe Systems where she managed Adobe.com. At the Lab,
Ducot will work to expand the company’s Web infrastructure and architecture, offering complementary lightweight Web experiences that extend the value of Second Life beyond the virtual world and help Residents more closely integrate Second Life with their daily lives.
This fits completely in the logic of the announcements by CEO Mark Kingdon and chairman Philip Rosedale at the Second Life Community Convention.
