Ulrike Reinhard Interviewing Stowe Boyd: The Web And The Post-Everything Economy – /Message

A 50 minutes long interview by Ulrike Reinhard with Stowe Boyd. Don’t get too upset by the “post everything” thing, it is at least to some extent something he said poking some fun.

The interview is wide-ranging, in scope and in time. Stowe reminds us how the telephone became ubiquitous in offices, but also how businesses resisted this (” why do they all need telephones, we have one in the lobby, what is the return on investment, won’t they use it to call their moms etc).

This is also about how new media dissolve structures of authority. Not that authority disappears as by magic, but it is transformed, has to manifest itself in new forms.

Most important is how the web is essentially distributed, low-cost, and seems to enable and even to require openness.
