Upcoming Event: Metanomics and ThinkBalm bout immersive technology in the workplace

metanomicsNow that the economy is in a structural change where small and even one person enterprises stand for innovation and employment, immersive solutions become even more crucial to enable those small companties to collaborate worldwide and to work with big corporations which also rely more and more on autonomous and dispersed teams of collaborators.

One of the expert groups in immersive solutions for the workplace is ThinkBalm, and co-founder Sam Driver of ThinkBalm is the guest of the upcoming Metanomics show, Wednesday February 3, at Noon SLT/PDT (9 pm CET). Much more information can be found on the Metanomics website.

Please note that in the introductory text for the show the words “virtual worlds” are not used. Nowadays, so it seems, we speak about “immersive technology”. Only if and when the audience seems to be interested, experts dare to mention that, in fact, they want to talk about “virtual environments” and even “Second Life”.

I just participated in a discussion at We Are The Network about how we try to explain virtual worlds to people who have no virtual worlds background at all (some elements of the discussion were tweeted on the MixedRealities twitterfeed).

It was interesting to note that even while some participants used prestigious names using virtual worlds to interest people, there was also a tendency focusing on the benefits of virtual worlds while avoiding to use the terms “virtual world” or “Second Life” too early in the presentation.

Anyway, I look forward to this upcoming edition of Metanomics!
