My thoughts: it’s actually not about the technology, it’s about the concept – the idea.
What are your thoughts?
I would say, it is – very often – about the story, the narrative. Not the linear narratives we know from mainstream journalism or literature, but interactive, non-linear narrative.
It depends on the narrative what technology you need. Sometimes the technology is available, but unaffordable. Or the technology is not yet there.
To make it more complicated: sometimes the fact that new technology emerges, inspires people for new kinds of narrative, which on its turn will need even better technology.
But high-end technology is not always needed (fortunately).
